Operating Hours

The Rome subway operates daily:

Sunday - Thursday: 5:30 AM to 11:30 PM
Friday - Saturday: 5:30 AM to 1:30 AM

Tickets and Fares

Rome uses an integrated ticket system (ATAC) for metro, buses, and trams:

BIT (Single ticket): Valid for 100 minutes, one metro ride
24-hour pass: Unlimited travel for 24 hours
48-hour pass: Unlimited travel for 48 hours
72-hour pass: Unlimited travel for 72 hours
CIS (Weekly pass): Valid for 7 days

Tips for Using Rome Metro

Validate your ticket at the yellow machines before entering
Keep your ticket - inspectors check regularly
Avoid rush hours (7:30-9:30 AM and 5:00-7:30 PM)
Watch for pickpockets, especially on crowded trains
Some stations have long escalators (Spagna is very deep)
