Operating Hours
The Rome subway operates daily:
- Sunday - Thursday: 5:30 AM to 11:30 PM
- Friday - Saturday: 5:30 AM to 1:30 AM
Tickets and Fares
Rome uses an integrated ticket system (ATAC) for metro, buses, and trams:
- BIT (Single ticket): Valid for 100 minutes, one metro ride
- 24-hour pass: Unlimited travel for 24 hours
- 48-hour pass: Unlimited travel for 48 hours
- 72-hour pass: Unlimited travel for 72 hours
- CIS (Weekly pass): Valid for 7 days
Tips for Using Rome Metro
- Validate your ticket at the yellow machines before entering
- Keep your ticket - inspectors check regularly
- Avoid rush hours (7:30-9:30 AM and 5:00-7:30 PM)
- Watch for pickpockets, especially on crowded trains
- Some stations have long escalators (Spagna is very deep)
